Terms
Clear expectations protect everyone.
This describes how BeforeHand actually works today. It's a working draft, not a substitute for review by qualified counsel before it's presented as binding terms.
What BeforeHand is
BeforeHand organizes your information, lets you choose who can see it and when, and supports a documented process for closing accounts and settling affairs after a verified life event. It is not a law firm, financial advisor, health-care provider, court, or executor, and using it is not a substitute for a will, power of attorney, or professional advice.
No authority created
Creating a plan, adding a person, or uploading a document does not grant legal authority. Authority depends on valid documents, applicable law, institutional requirements, and real-world facts — BeforeHand records and coordinates that authority, it does not create it.
Your account
You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential, including any Google account you use to sign in and the security PIN that gates sensitive fields on your plan. Tell us immediately if you believe either has been compromised.
Life-event verification and account closure
Reporting a life event (such as incapacity or death) starts a review: a person you've designated evaluates real evidence before anything is treated as verified, and some events support a lighter-weight provisional verification while full verification is pending. Once fully verified, we may begin the account-closure process on your behalf for accounts you've recorded — sending a closure notice on your behalf is not the same as an account being closed, and a task is only marked complete once that's actually confirmed.
Acceptable use
Don't use BeforeHand to impersonate someone, to gain access to a plan you haven't been given, or to attempt to bypass the access controls, encryption, or verification steps described here.
Service availability
We work to keep BeforeHand available, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access, and parts of the service depend on third-party providers (including Google, Mailgun, Twilio, and Supabase) whose own availability we don't control.
Billing
Pricing, trial terms, and billing details will be completed here once finalized. Nothing in this section should be relied on until it is.
Disclaimers and liability
BeforeHand is provided on an "as is" basis. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim warranties beyond what we've stated here, and our liability terms will be completed with qualified counsel before this section is relied on as binding.
Ending your account
You may stop using BeforeHand at any time; contact us to close your account and ask about what happens to your information afterward.
Governing law
The jurisdiction and dispute-resolution terms that apply here will be completed once the company's registered legal details are finalized.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll update this page and, for significant changes, tell you directly.
Before these terms are final
This page reflects the product's actual current design. It should still be completed for eligibility, billing, liability, and governing law with qualified counsel before it is presented as binding terms of service.
