Before you sign
An enduring power of attorney can grant broad authority. Alberta recommends legal help, particularly when finances, property, business interests, or family circumstances are complex.
If capacity is disputed, the appointment is complex, or property crosses jurisdictions, get advice from a qualified lawyer or notary where appropriate.
After it is properly completed
Tell your attorney where the signed document is kept and review it after major changes to your relationships, assets, or wishes.
You can then record its location and the responsible contacts in BeforeHand. Uploading a file does not make it legally valid or replace delivery, registration, witnessing, or notarization required elsewhere.
